IC Reflection

My IC, in short, is finding the best way to raise awareness for autism.

1. Raise money
2. Educate yourself
3. Educate others.

I tried raising money through the donation page and the Puzzle Piece campaign. It was horrible. Planning fundraisers in itself is a nightmare. Only people with the utmost patience should facilitate those. At the close of my IC, I raised nothing. however, I am not dismayed...I have the puzzle pieces to sell and that is exactly what I will do. Of course it won't happen by February 1, but I made myself and Autism speaks somewhat of an unspoken promise.

Educating yourself and others go hand in hand. It's obvious that you can't teach others before you teach yourself. That being said, the way I educated myself was through my weekly research checks in and out of class. I then applied that into making the Facebook Page and flyers.

The best way to raise awareness is through education.
